Report a Lost Item Online

If you’ve lost something, please inquire by sending an email to mgsc@american.edu. Staff will contact you if your item is found.

Disclaimer

MSGC maintains a charitable lost and found located at the 1st floor Information Desk. However, it is important to note that at no point can MSGC assume responsibility for items turned into the lost and found.

If you have lost an item, please inquire at the Information Desk or fill out the inquiry form (found here – link). Unclaimed low-value items are held for a semester. After the last day of classes, any unclaimed items are donated accordingly.

High value items are taken by Public Safety. Other items are subject to disposal. American University IDs are taken to the One Card Office. Food and drink are promptly discarded.

MGSC staff may ask users for their ID card or other identifying information to verify ownership.

Mark your personal belongings with identifying information so that the University can contact you about items in the lost and found. If you think you have lost something, contact the front desk of MGSC (202-885-3387) or Public Safety (202-885-2527) immediately to ensure that any of your items in the lost and found can be returned to you.
