Welcome AU Parents and Families!

Parents and families are important partners on a student's college journey. The New Student and Family Programs team is here to support Eagle families from the time their students enroll through to graduation. We are dedicated to keeping you informed and helping you find the answers and guidance to help you support your student's success.

Family & Supporters Orientation

Parents/family members of new first year and transfer students are invited to attend Family & Supporters Orientation. This afternoon experience enables new families to learn about campus resources directly from the AU staff who will work with their students throughout their time at AU.

The event includes the opportunity to informally meet fellow new parents/families and AU staff and attend presentations to hear from current students about the student experience and from AU leaders on topics that support student success at American University. 

New families can find event information (August and January) via the New Eagle Family Newsletters. We look forward to welcoming new Eagle families to the AU community!

The Nest Network

The Nest Network is a group of AU parent/family volunteers that supports student success and the University. The Network is designed to foster community, enhance engagement, and represent the interests of AU families. Together, we create an environment in which families can connect, discover AU, and contribute to the wellbeing of both students and families in partnership with the New Student and Family Programs team.
