Dorothy and Victor Gondos, Jr. Award
The Dorothy and Victor Gondos, Jr. Award is awarded for papers on some phase of the History of Administration of Archives or of American History. Funding is open to all AU students and to any professional archivist at the National Archives. This award is made possible through the generosity of AU History Professor Dorothy and Victor Gondos. Jr.
Valerie French and Robert Beisner History Education Fund
The Valerie French and Robert Beisner History Education Fund supports student travel and research expenses associated with major seminars, senior theses, dissertations, and research seminars. This fund is made possible by the generosity of Dr. Valerie French, former chair of the History Department.

Conference Support & Research Support
Conference Support & Research Support is available through the History Department to both undergraduate and graduate students. Students seeking funding should first apply through the CAS Dean's Office for CAS Research/Conference funds for undergraduate or graduate students. The Department of History will review applications for funding after the CAS Dean's Office has made their awards and may provide additional funding. Students seeking funds should contact history@american.edu for more information.

Dorothy Gondos-Beers Scholarship
The Dorothy Gondos-Beers Scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student in the Department of History who may use the funds to meet the costs associated with attendance at the University. Recipients are chosen based on financial need and academic achievement. This scholarship was made possible through the generosity of AU History Professor Dorothy and Victor Gondos, Jr.

Anna Katsen Nelson Excellence in History Award
The Anna Katsen Nelson Excellence in History Award recognizes senior history majors for outstanding academic achievement. Students are selected based on their GPA in the major and are recognized at our annual Brandenberg Lecture and History Awards Ceremony. This award was named in memory of Distinguished Historian in Residence Anna Katsen Nelson.

Graduate
Richard and Carol Breitman Endowed Scholarship
The Richard and Carol Breitman Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a graduate student who is pursuing a PhD, preferably in European history, and performing well in their studies. The purpose of this fund is to provide tuition support. Once a student is selected, the scholarship can be renewed so long as the student remains in good standing and is enrolled full time. Students are nominated by their faculty advisor. This scholarship was made possible through the generosity of Carl and Margaret Anthon and named in honor of AU History Professor Richard and Carol Breitman.

Roger Brown Dissertation Completion Endowment
The Roger Brown Dissertation Completion Endowment provides support to advanced history doctoral students are in the final stages of completing, or have completed, their dissertation and who are preparing for academic careers. Students are nominated by their faculty advisor. This scholarship was made possible through the generosity of AU History Professor Roger Brown.

Patrick Clendenen Fellowship
The Patrick Clendenen Fellowship is awarded to PhD students to support them in completing their dissertations, with preference for female students. This fund was established by Mary Grayden in memory of Patrick Clendenen.

Robert Griffith Education Fund for Public History
The Robert Griffith Education Fund for Public History provides funding to support the study of public history at American University. This fundwas established in honor of Dr. Robert Griffith, AU History professor and former department chair, by Barbara Griffith and family.
