AU Dream provides the following services to individuals and communities in the DMV area:
- Legal consultations
- Limited legal representation
- Full legal representation (including removal proceedings in immigration court)
- Presentations on current legal issues and higher education resources for undocumented students
Please note that all of our services are free.
Who is eligible for our services?
- Undocumented students (undergraduate or graduate) at American University or another college/university in the DMV
- Other non-US citizen students at AU or another college/university in the DMV
- Undocumented family members of such students (even if the student is a US citizen)
- International students who may have humanitarian immigration claims, such as those listed below
What types of immigration cases does AU Dream take?
- Renewal DACA applications
- Initial and renewal applications for Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
- Advance Parole applications
- Asylum, withholding of removal, or protection under the Convention Against Torture
- U visas
- T visas
- Self-petitions and defensive applications under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
- Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
- Green card applications
- Citizenship applications
- Family-based petitions (for a spouse, parent, or child)
- Removal (deportation) proceedings in immigration court
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list. AU Dream focuses on humanitarian claims under immigration law. If you are not sure that you fit our criteria, please inquire by email.
We are not able to assist with routine CPT or OPT applications for international students in F-1 or J-1 status. For assistance with those, American University Students should contact the International Student & Scholar Services office and students at other institutions should contact their international students’ office.
