Peer-Assisted Student Support

The Peer-Assisted Student Support (PASS) Program provides free, one-on-one, individualized tutoring to all enrolled undergraduate and graduate students at American University. Tutors help students learn and review course concepts from their classes and provide opportunities for hands-on practice for successfully completing their coursework.   
 

Fall 2025

This fall, PASS tutoring is offered in both in-person and online formats. 

  • Appointments are scheduled through WCOnline
  • Availability may vary by course and tutor.
  • Can’t find a tutor for your course? Submit our request form and we’ll do our best to connect you with support.

  • Bring your syllabus and class notes 
  • Come prepared with questions 
  • Try to schedule sessions early in the semester 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

In-Person Tutoring

Tutoring taking place in person will denote "In-Person" next to the Tutor's name on the schedule on WCOnline. In-person tutoring will take place in Butler Pavilion, Room 310.

Online Tutoring

Tutoring that takes place will denote "Online" next to the Tutor's name of the schedule on WCOnline. On your existing the appointment form, review the Tutor’s information and please find “LOCATION” under their email address for the Zoom information for your appointment. Select the Zoom link and wait to be admitted by your Tutor.

  1. Create an account or log into WCOnline with your AU email address.
  2. Below the log-in box, select the appropriate tutor schedule and click, Log In.
  3. On the top of the page, click the drop-down menu titled “Search your class” and select your course.
  4. All available tutors will appear along with their schedules.
  5. Select a white box to schedule your appointment and complete the accompanying appointment form.
  1. Log into WCOnline at least 3 hours before the appointment's time.
  2. Click on your appointment.
  3. Select "cancel this appointment" at the bottom of the form.
