Health Promotion Management (MS)
Offered by the Department of Health Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, the primary objective of the Health Promotion Management (MS) is to provide a competency-based, multidisciplinary academic program for individuals dedicated to assuming leadership positions within the health promotion industry. The curriculum integrates managerial skills with scientific and clinical knowledge of exercise physiology, behavioral psychology, and nutrition.
Admission to the Program
The program is open to students with varied undergraduate backgrounds and has few science-related academic prerequisites. The academic record and experience of each applicant will be thoroughly reviewed by the program director. The minimum university requirements for admission to graduate study are a bachelor's degree earned at an accredited college or university and a 3.00 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.00 scale) for the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate study. International applicants who are fluent in written and spoken English are encouraged to apply. To be considered for admission, international applicants must meet university requirements for writing and speaking English. Students may apply for prior learning experience once admitted to the program.
Degree Requirements
- 30 credit hours of approved graduate work
- One written and one oral comprehensive examination
- Capstone Experience: 3 credit hours from one of HLTH-685 Organizational Health (3), HLTH-691 Internship (1-6), or HLTH-797 Master's Thesis Research (1-6)

Online Health Promotion Management (MS)
The online Health Promotion Management (MS) program admission, degree, and course requirements are the same as for the on-campus program. Students are expected to take two courses each semester and complete the program within a twenty-month period. Students must be accepted into the online program to enroll in online courses.
