2026 Lodging Information

Washington College of Law does not provide housing for Summer Program participants. In previous years, participants have chosen to stay in the AU Dormitories or have found housing on their own. 

DORMITORY OPTION: Main Campus - Duber Hall

 

THE REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

A block of rooms at American University’s dorms have been reserved for participants attending the Summer Programs. Lodging is available on American University's main campus- Duber Hall.

Each floor community has a central lounge space with a kitchen, lounge furniture, and television for participants to study or socialize with their community. Each floor also has a laundry room.

The virtual tours available here are representative of a given room type. Each space varies based on room sizes and dimensions. Each virtual tour includes some decorative items and a microfridge to show what the room looks like when occupied, but these items are not included in rooms.

Please note that there is no cookware in the shared kitchen, except for a microwave and an oven.

The summer course will be held at the American University Washington College of Law, but housing is available on American University's main campus. Please be aware that there are two different campuses. For more information, visit the program website here.

American University is conveniently located less than a mile away from the Tenleytown-AU metro stop and the University offers a free shuttle from main campus to the metro and to WCL throughout the day.

Please note that housekeeping is not available. Additionally, AU only provides linens, a blanket, pillow, pillowcase, and a small towel. If you prefer a larger towel or hand towel, please bring one with you.

Temperature policy: The setpoint is 76, so that is the middle range, the room is not necessarily cooled to 76 degrees.

  • Rate, including taxes, is $125/night.

BUDGET HOTEL: AROUND $50-100/NIGHT

Quaint lodging which usually includes basic amenities such as beds, dressers, desk, telephone and TV. Some budget hotels have both shared and private bathrooms.

BED & BREAKFAST (B&B): AROUND $75-150/NIGHT

Offer quaint lodging in private rooms with both shared and private bathrooms, depending on price. Bed & Breakfasts usually tailored to those who are looking for comfort, charm, and affordability. Most quaint lodgings include shared amenities, such as a shared kitchen, common room, and TV room.

APARTMENT-STYLE ACCOMMODATIONS: PRICES VARY

Accommodation usually includes a small kitchen, private bathroom, and bedroom. In apartment-style accommodation; the atmosphere is less like a hotel, and more like a private residence. Apartments are available both unfurnished and furnished. Accommodations of this nature will vary tremendously in both amenities and cost. Browse through options on Craigslist: DC for daily/weekly/monthly sublets. We recommend looking for something available in Tenleytown, Friendship Heights, or Cleveland Park.

MODERATELY PRICED HOTEL: AROUND $100-200/NIGHT

Hotels include more modern day amenities and services than dormitories, budget hotels, and  bed & breakfast. Lodging usually includes a private bathroom, cable television, A/C, restaurant, and guest services. Hotels sometimes include an indoor/outdoor pool, exercise facility, and laundry facilities.

  • Courtyard by Marriott Washington, DC/Friendship Heights - starting at $189 per night.

  • Days Inn by Wyndham Washington DC/Connecticut Avenue - starting at $116 per night. This Hotel offers a University Rate 10% off rate A day.

  • Kimpton Glover Park Hotel - starting at $169 per night.

LUXURY HOTEL: $200 AND UP/NIGHT

These hotels are among the higher options and typically offer a broad range of amenities and services. Most of them include luxurious guestrooms with cable TV, A/C, robes maid service,fitness facilities, pool, and dining services on site.

  • Omni Shoreham Hotel - starting at $229 per night

HOSTEL: $25 AND UP/NIGHT

These are the most basic accommodation options, usually offering dormitory-style rooms with multiple beds in a shared space. As they are often located farther from campus, transportation time and costs should be taken into account. Available amenities such as common areas, kitchen access, meals, and internet vary by property.
