Dr. Lorita Copeland Daniels joined the American University School of Public Affairs as an Adjunct Professor in November 2020, bringing over 20 years of public sector experience. Her expertise spans management, public policy, military policy, public administration, education policy, and board management. Dr. Daniels’ current scholarship and writing interests are local government, accountability, and public participation.
In December 2019, she completed her Ph.D. in Public Administration and Public Affairs at Virginia Tech. Her dissertation focused on the intersection of public servants' identities and their motivations;
Dr. Daniels sought to uncover how social identity shapes individual work and public service commitment. She is eager to advance her current research, contributing valuable insights to the field.
