Bio
Priya Lothe Doshi is a Hurst senior professorial lecturer in strategic communications in the School of Communication’s Public Communication Department. She teaches a number of courses in public relations and strategic communications including multicultural strategic communication, international strategic communication, communication theory, communication and society, and public relations. As an university leader in Inclusive Excellence, collaborates across the university to ensure a more inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff through programming, training and improved policies and procedures.

Professor Doshi has more than 20 years of experience as a public relations practitioner creating and implementing strategic communications plans, conducting media relations, training spokespeople, and planning high profile events. She specialized in communications initiatives for international policy issues for governments and non-profit organizations including the British and Swiss Embassies, the Meridian International Center, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the Rights Working Group. She has also been an independent consultant working with her clients to develop messaging documents, write web articles and opinion editorials, and plan and implement the roll out of programs and projects.

Professor Doshi previously served as Associate Dean of Faculty and Inclusive Excellence in American University's Office of the Provost. Working with the Dean of Faculty, she supported faculty affairs policies and practices with a focus on improving faculty hiring, mentorship, and sense of belonging. Key activities included implementation of search committee briefings on inclusive practices, holding faculty forums for the Provost's office, and working with key campus partners like the Faculty Senate leadership, School-level Associate Deans, and School-level Inclusion Leads. She also previously served as the Inclusion Officer at the School of Communication leading its efforts to build community and belonging for all students, faculty, and staff.

Ms. Doshi holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Vassar College.
