Bio
Dr. Guy Ziv is an associate professor in the Department of Foreign Policy and Global Security at American University’s School of International Service and associate director of AU’s Meltzer Schwartzberg Center for Israel Studies. He teaches U.S. foreign policy, international negotiations, and courses on Israel.

He is the author of several books including Netanyahu vs The Generals: The Battle for Israel’s Future (Cambridge University Press, 2024) and Why Hawks Become Doves: Shimon Peres and Foreign Policy Change in Israel (SUNY Press, 2014).

A recipient of multiple teaching and scholarship awards, including the SIS 2024-2025 Scholar-Teacher of the Year, Dr. Ziv brings a policy background from Capitol Hill and NGOs focused on Israeli-Palestinian peace. His work appears in both scholarly journals and major news sites, such as The Boston Globe, CNN.com, Haaretz, The New York Daily News, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and USA Today, and he is a frequent commentator on reputable media outlets including BBC, Bloomberg TV, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, Sky News, and Voice of America.
