Mohamed Othman International Relations (PhD)

Bio
Mohamed Othman is a PhD candidate at American University in Washington, D.C. His primary research interests include International Relations theory, Islamic International Relations, and Global IR. He is particularly focused on developing more inclusive theoretical frameworks that reflect non-Western intellectual traditions and historical experiences. His work also examines the role of religion in international affairs, including its influence on peace, conflict resolution, and reconciliation, as well as the involvement of religious actors in the international system.

His secondary research explores political violence, terrorism, and the role of emerging dual-use technologies in modern warfare, with particular attention to how non-state violent actors adapt to and innovate with such technologies.

Mohamed works with Professors Amitav Acharya and Mohammed Abu-Nimer and has contributed to research on reconciliation, transitional justice, and evolving global orders.
