Bio
Shawna Russo is a Graduate Program Coordinator with the Education Policy and Leadership Program at American University’s School of Education. Prior to this, she served as a Program Assistant with the Masters in Public Leadership program at the University of San Francisco and as a Transition Counselor with the U.S. Army. She is from Albuquerque, NM and received her B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University. At Tufts, Shawna focused on researching counter-terrorism and political violence. She continued this work post-graduation, and earned a M.A. in Non-proliferation and Terrorism Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. At MIIS, Shawna focused on non-proliferation treaties and negotiating fora. Shawna has conducted research on terrorism, political violence, and non-proliferation issues at several think tanks around the world, including the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the Stimson Center in Washington, DC.
