Bio
Heidi Holland serves as an Academic Advisor in the School of International Service’s Online and Executive Programs unit at American University. Since joining SIS in 2022, she has advised both on-campus and online graduate students, bringing a dual background in academic advising and behavioral health to support students in navigating their personal, academic, and professional development. She supports the university’s online master’s degrees and professional education offerings, including non-degree and executive programs, with a focus on student success and engagement.
Prior to joining SIS, Heidi served as the Registrar at the American School of The Hague in the Netherlands, where she supported students from over 75 nationalities in meeting their academic and graduation goals. With a global mindset and more than a decade of experience in higher education, counseling, and workforce development, she has worked across diverse settings, including leading training and development initiatives for behavioral health professionals in the U.S.
Heidi holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from William Smith College. She is deeply committed to inclusive excellence, holistic student support, and cross-cultural engagement, and is passionate about helping students identify and achieve meaningful educational and career outcomes.
In her free time, Heidi enjoys hiking, biking, cooking, and spending time with her three children and two incredibly spoiled French bulldogs.
