AU Memo Letterhead

Dear AU community,

I am pleased to announce two updates to compensation and employee scheduling that support our people and enhance our workplace.

  • Eligible non-temporary full-time and part-time employees earning less than $60,000 annually will receive a 2 percent salary increase (retroactive to July 1, 2025), which will appear in their October paychecks. This adjustment reflects our continued commitment to investing in our people, with special focus on supporting team members at the lower end of our pay band. This commitment guided us throughout the last budget process, motivating our decision to identify these funds despite the difficult financial landscape. As the fall enrollment picture has stabilized, we are now able to fulfill this important priority.
  • Beginning October 1, we will launch a new program where eligible employees on a hybrid 1, 2, or 3 schedule (those working 1-4 days a week on campus/in-person) can request up to two weeks per fiscal year of fully remote work. Requests will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis and subject to university operational requirements and conditions.

In the coming days, Human Resources will provide additional information for implementing the new program to schools, colleges, and administration units so that eligible employees may enjoy this increased flexibility as soon as possible. Employees represented by SEIU Local 500 in the Provost and Enrollment Division bargaining unit are not currently eligible for either the program or the wage increase. However, a wage increase (effective upon ratification) and remote work weeks have been included in our best and final offer and will be applicable to members of this bargaining unit if the union accepts the university’s offer.

These actions reinforce our commitment to advancing our mission, providing our students with an exceptional AU experience, and supporting our teams. By continuing to invest in our people and build workplace structures that enable our most effective work, we create a campus environment where everyone can thrive.

Thank you for your continued support and contributions that make AU a great place to work and the best university we can be for our students.

Sincerely,

Jonathan R. Alger
