Jie Cai Senior Professorial Lecturer CAS | World Languages and Cultures

Bio
Professor Cai earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chinese from Shanghai Normal University and both his Master of Arts and Master of Library Science from the University of Iowa. Prior to his appointment at American University, he taught Chinese language courses at all levels for over sixteen years at institutions including Harvard University, Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Georgetown University. His research interests encompass Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL), Chinese as a Heritage Language, Second Language Acquisition, Computer-Assisted Language Learning, and Modern Chinese Literature.
