Bio
Demonica Jones, DrPH, MPH, MSW is a Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Health Studies. She earned her BS in Community Health and Spanish from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, an MPH and MSW from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a DrPH from the Penn State College of Medicine.

Her research and professional work span HIV prevention, maternal and child health outcomes related to COVID-19, and healthcare transitions for adolescents and emerging adults. With a background in clinical research, HIV/STI education, and programs for vulnerable youth—including LGBTQ+ youth, young people with special healthcare needs, and unhoused populations—Dr. Jones is deeply committed to advancing health equity. Her professional interests center on advocating for and empowering youth and young adults by fostering environments of autonomy, respect, and mutual understanding between professionals and the communities they serve.

Beyond academia, Dr. Jones is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Guided by her favorite quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” she brings this ethos to her teaching, service, and scholarship. She also has a passion for global travel, which she believes is one of life’s greatest educators.
